Merlo Coffee and The Sycamore School Celebrating Superpowers

Merlo Coffee and The Sycamore School Celebrating Superpowers

April 2024

April is Autism Awareness Month and this year Merlo Coffee and The Sycamore School continued to join forces to promote awareness and acceptance within the community by celebrating ‘Superheroes for Sycamore School Day’ showcasing the unique talents and contributions of autistic young people.

In partnership with The Sycamore School, Merlo marked the occasion by donating $1 from every coffee sold on Friday 19 April 2024, to support the school’s initiatives. Staff members from Merlo’s flagship cafes embraced the superhero theme, donning their favourite superhero costumes.

Merlo has been involved with this wonderful initiative for eight years and our staff love dressing up in support of the school.

ABOUT THE SYCAMORE SCHOOL

Founded in 2017 by Brisbane parents seeking a suitable education option for their autistic son, the Sycamore School has become a beacon of support for autistic students in Queensland.  Today, the school caters to over 90 students from Prep through to Year 10.

“It’s such an exciting day at the school, our young people really shine when they’re empowered to celebrate their achievements, share their special interests, and use the day to reflect on how far they’ve come.” Principal Ronwyn Collier said.

“At The Sycamore School we celebrate the strengths and capabilities of our young people and Superheroes for The Sycamore School Day gives our young people an opportunity to show our community what makes them so unique and brilliant." Collier said.

Merlo has proudly donated $10,000 to the Sycamore School.
